Refractory Panels and Firebox Damage

This original Benbrook page remains available for older PCCS service links. PCCS has transitioned to Fort Worth Chimney Sweeps, our family-owned operation serving the area since 1991.

Can a panel be judged safe from a photo?

No. Photos help describe damage. Manufacturer limits and the actual condition guide repair or replacement.

What damage should I report?

Mention open cracks, missing mortar or panel material, loose components, and prior findings. Significant damage needs assessment before use.

Can a decorative coating replace repair?

No. A change of appearance does not repair underlying defects. Ask which condition the proposed work addresses.
